Features of the application of the plaster from corns

The plaster for calluses and corns is an effective remedy, which contains components that have a softening, analgesic and antiseptic effect. The modern pharmacological industry produces many different types of these products, and each of them has its own peculiarities of application, which are indicated in the instructions.

What is a corn patch?

This invention of the pharmaceutical industry is created for external use in callosities, calluses and corns. An adhesive plaster with improved keratolytic properties easily relieves of corns due to its composition salicylic, benzoic or other oxygen-containing acids. Depending on the composition (active ingredient), such agents are used to remove dry or wet calluses, corns, as well as to protect the skin from painful pressure. Almost all corn plasters are medical adhesive tape with a protective lining and a hole filled with a homogeneous corn mass, coated on the sticky side with a layer of film or silicone (silicone plaster to protect against corns), or leukomass, which contains medicinal substances applied to the tissue and protected from above with cellophane.

How are corn plasters used?

There are many types of corn plasters, but they all apply according to the same rules.... Before starting treatment, feet must be thoroughly washed with soap and dried (so that the skin is clean, dry and fat-free). Before separating the adhesive layer from the protective film, the agent must be warmed up between the palms.

Note: After applying the dry callus patch, make sure that the healing layer is only on the damaged area, as it can cause irritation if it comes into contact with healthy skin. It is necessary to keep it exactly as long as required according to the instructions.

Contraindications for the use of a corn patch

Callus patch for dry calluses is not recommended for abrasions, wounds, scratches, or other open lesions on the skin. This is due to the fact that when acid and other components of the medicinal composition get on the injured area, burning and pain may occur, as well as an inflammatory process may develop.

Types of corn plasters

Even the most modest pharmacy can offer at least four different options, in this connection, I would like to clarify their differences, as well as note what the choice should be based on.

Plaster "Salipod"

The most famous plaster created for getting rid of dry and root calluses is Salipod plaster. It contains 30% salicylic acid, rosin and sulfur, which have an active keratolytic and antimicrobial effect. In the course of treatment, local immunity is enhanced, which irritates the skin tissues, and they begin to soften. After 1-2 days, "Salipod" is removed, after which, for five minutes, the treated area is soaked in water and gently scraped off with a pumice stone. If necessary, repeat the procedure until the corn is completely removed.

Callus silicone plaster

Silicone callus patch can be used on any part of the foot. It is made of silicone gel that can easily take any shape. It is a completely safe hypoallergenic product that does not cause skin irritation and easily conforms to the shape of a heel or toe, making it as comfortable to wear as possible.

Plaster "Mozolin"

Callus plaster "Mozolin" for the treatment of dry calluses has pronounced keratolytic properties. In the course of treatment, softening and exfoliation of the keratinized layers of the epidermis occurs.

Note: "Mozolin" is used as a dermatological agent to remove corns, callosities and dry calluses in adults. Its use is contraindicated in children.

Before applying the product, the legs are steamed and thoroughly wiped off. If a patch is used in the form of a bandage, the protective layer is removed from it, after which it is applied in such a way that the therapeutic mass covers the surface of the dry callus. After two days, the plaster is removed, the problem area is steamed and the exfoliated epidermis is removed. This procedure should be repeated until hyperkeratosis is completely eliminated.

Callus patch Compeed

Compeed is a dry callus patch that not only eliminates aching pain, but also significantly speeds up the healing process. This preparation contains hydrocolloidal particles, the thickness of which reaches only 600 microns.

Note: Compid plasters are presented in a wide range on the pharmaceutical market.

Compeed for the treatment of wet calluses intensively absorbs wound secretions and prevents them from drying out (due to low air permeability). The thin and transparent patch is completely invisible, and the edges of the material from which it is made, even at high humidity, do not peel off. The plaster "Compid", created for the treatment of growing calluses and corns, thanks to its hydrocolloid technology, optimally moisturizes the environment, softens the hardened layer of the skin and effectively helps to get rid of the existing problem. The Kompid pencil protects against the appearance of corns.
